Lorsque Alex Henry Foster s\u2019est retrouv\u00e9 sur sc\u00e8ne, en juillet 2019, pour pr\u00e9senter les chansons de son opus solo Windows in the Sky, il croyait que c\u2019\u00e9tait pour \u00eatre une premi\u00e8re et une derni\u00e8re. Vingt et un mois plus tard, il lance l\u2019album et le DVD Standing Under Bright Lights qui t\u00e9moignent de ce spectacle.<\/strong><\/p>

Au bout du fil, le chanteur du collectif qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois Your Favorite Enemies, est volubile. L\u2019entrevue qui doit durer 30 minutes se prolongera durant une heure.<\/p>

\u00abLorsque j\u2019ai lanc\u00e9 Windows in the Sky en novembre 2018, je n\u2019avais aucune ambition d\u2019aller plus loin avec cette aventure. C\u2019\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s personnel et introspectif. Je n\u2019avais aucune intention de monter sur sc\u00e8ne avec ce projet-l\u00e0\u00bb, a indiqu\u00e9 le chanteur de la formation Your Favorite Enemies, lors d\u2019un entretien.<\/p>

Windows in the Sky est un voyage int\u00e9rieur o\u00f9 il rend hommage \u00e0 son p\u00e8re d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 d\u2019un cancer en 2011.<\/p>

\u00abC\u2019\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s personnel et je ne croyais pas que c\u2019\u00e9tait pour rejoindre des gens. Je croyais avoir tout fait, m\u00eame, pour ne pas que \u00e7a fonctionne\u00bb, a-t-il fait remarquer.<\/p>

Et tout \u00e0 coup, l\u2019album, qui est loin des sonorit\u00e9s plus physiques de Your Favorite Enemies, conna\u00eet un succ\u00e8s totalement inattendu. Laurent Saulnier, vice-pr\u00e9sident programmation du Festival de jazz de Montr\u00e9al lui offre une carte blanche pour un concert au Club Soda.<\/p>

Ce qu\u2019il fera, le 5 juillet 2019, accompagn\u00e9 par 11 musiciens, avec une installation sc\u00e9nique, des \u00e9clairages et des projections visant \u00e0 offrir une exp\u00e9rience d\u2019immersion totale.<\/p>

\u00ab\u00c7a m\u2019a pris une longue r\u00e9flexion avant de dire oui. Je me demandais si les gens avaient envie de venir entendre quelqu\u2019un se plaindre durant deux heures\u00bb, a-t-il laiss\u00e9 tomber.<\/p>

Un Livre<\/b><\/h4>

Alex Henry Foster souhaitait \u00eatre entour\u00e9 par un mini-orchestre, du bruit, des retours de son et des instruments \u00e0 cordes. Les musiciens invit\u00e9s lui ont demand\u00e9 s\u2019il y avait des partitions.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00abIl n\u2019y en avait pas. Je voulais que \u00e7a soit intuitif et que tout le monde se laisse aller dans le moment et dans l\u2019\u00e9motion. Je ne voulais pas que \u00e7a soit une r\u00e9p\u00e9tition de l\u2019album. L\u2019opus, qui fait 60 minutes, dure plus de deux heures en spectacle\u00bb, a-t-il pr\u00e9cis\u00e9.<\/p>

Le concert, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 guichet ferm\u00e9, a \u00e9t\u00e9 un succ\u00e8s et il a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 une deuxi\u00e8me fois \u00e0 l\u2019Astral.\u00a0<\/p>

De retour au Qu\u00e9bec, apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie, Alex Henry Foster se lance dans l\u2019\u00e9criture d\u2019un livre sur le voyage int\u00e9rieur effectu\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite du d\u00e9c\u00e8s de son p\u00e8re. Un livre qui sera publi\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9. Certains fans lui ont \u00e9crit pour lui demander s\u2019il avait l\u2019intention de lancer un DVD du concert du Club Soda.<\/p>

\u00abJ\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 poser des questions et j\u2019ai r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que le concert avait \u00e9t\u00e9 film\u00e9 et enregistr\u00e9. Le son \u00e9tait excellent et l\u2019intensit\u00e9 de ce concert avait \u00e9t\u00e9 bien saisie. Il n\u2019y avait presque pas de retouches \u00e0 faire. C\u2019\u00e9tait authentique et j\u2019ai eu le go\u00fbt de partager ce moment\u00bb, a-t-il racont\u00e9.<\/p>

Le titre \u00abSon of Hannah\u00bb qui ouvre l\u2019album Standing Under Bright Lights, a \u00e9t\u00e9 compos\u00e9, lors des r\u00e9p\u00e9titions, quelques jours avant le spectacle. L\u2019id\u00e9e \u00e9tait d\u2019offrir une sorte d\u2019introduction et de bonifier le spectacle avec une touche du pr\u00e9sent.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s 50 minutes d\u2019entrevue, Alex Henry Foster confirme que Your Favorite Enemies existe toujours.<\/p>

\u00abIl y a des choses qui s\u2019en viennent et il y aura, un jour, un nouvel album. Et lorsque nous allons revenir, \u00e7a sera de la bonne fa\u00e7on\u00bb, a-t-il lanc\u00e9, faisant r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 un retour avec authenticit\u00e9 et int\u00e9grit\u00e9.<\/p>
