Thanks for joining us, Alex. Please introduce your art<\/strong><\/p>

I have the incredible privilege to give the intangible and the invisible a palette of sonic colors, and to welcome others to redefine what I might have felt emotionally through the necessary let go that defines the measure with which we\u2019ll commune as one afterward. Some may say I\u2019m some sort of \u201csound texturist\u201d, a \u201cnoise painter\u201d, or a \u201cword designer\u201d, which, I believe, are a bit too elaborate compared to the way I see things creatively. For me music, poetry, and visual art, as much as human interactions, remain an intuitive stream of life, which, once willing to totally dwell into, guides me deep within. While abandoning my own self-consciousness, I am able to discover a rich type of language in which I can communicate and evolve. That\u2019s what I\u2019m into, both personally and artistically: the enfranchisement of self\u2026 so that I can be transformed with every sensation of which I welcoming the pure uplifting character\u2026<\/p>

That\u2019s why \u201cStanding Under Bright Lights\u201d doesn\u2019t have the same formatted and generic nature that most live albums seem to be plagued with. It\u2019s not a public rendition of something that remains rooted in some emotional or creative things of the past. It was a total abandonment in a moment that was free from any egocentric ambitions. I wasn\u2019t directing the whole orchestra, nor was I channeling any magic mantras. It\u2019s the intuition that gave the project its cathartic essence, but it\u2019s the abandonment to the liberating emotions that makes it so meaningful. it was a renaissance of sorts for me that night, some kind of intimate emotional withdrawal where I have been liberated from many doubts, insecurities, and fears to replace them with the peace that only comes with forgiveness. I came to terms with several old wounds and made atonement for numerous regrets I had carried with me for even too long to remember their origins\u2026<\/p>

The concert was initially envisioned as a homage to my late father, but if it does offer him a dazzling goodbye, it\u2019s the celebration of life that emerged of it that makes it an empowering purpose.<\/p>

How does it feel releasing a live album in a period in which it is so difficult to play live?<\/strong><\/p>

It\u2019s a humble opportunity for me to commune something that I\u2019m still discovering to this day. I don\u2019t truly associate \u201cStanding Under Brights Lights\u201d as a live album. I know it\u2019s a matter of rhetoric, but the decision for me to release the album was based on a single element\u2026 Could it be as much of an inspiring blessing to others as it\u2019s been a life-changing experience for me? If yes, then it had to be shared, which I did\u2026 Maybe the pandemic context legitimizes such an album for some, as it makes perfect sense in a global perspective, but for me, it\u2019s a far more personal and intimate living entity, that grows way beyond any of the terrible circumstances. I believe that it\u2019s once communed with people that it becomes way greater than sounds and words. You can\u2019t replace a live moment. It would be a ludicrous and pompous idea on my part would it have been the case. That\u2019s why it\u2019s important for me to say that it\u2019s the uplifting spirit that comes with the rejuvenescent nature of the concert that led me to firmly believe that it had to be shared, and such spirit doesn\u2019t dwell in our circumstances, but in our willingness to see without our eyes open, to feel without the shivers, to kneel without surrendering, to be transformed without the pain, to evolve without pretension. It\u2019s all for us to determine the measure by which we want to bloom, grow or be reborn, may it be a reflection of our own self-drawing glide or a hopeful crash leading to exulting elevation, we\u2019re all invited. \u2028<\/p>

Your music is also about mental health. Let\u2019s consider, for example, the Alive project (also preventing suicide). Why do you think is important?<\/strong><\/p>

Because I\u2019ve witnessed my parents greatly suffer from depression, saw friends lose their battles with despair, but also and especially because I had to admit my own measure of bleaknesses at some point in my life if I didn\u2019t want to take it away. It\u2019s implacably devastating for anyone trying to navigate in nowadays\u2019 pressure for acceptance and acknowledgment. When you are the one standing outside looking in and longing to be in, you tend to believe whatever illusion is put on display by the person waiting on the other side of the mirror looking at you the very same way. The mirror needs to be cleaned up, broken even, so that everyone can see that no matter how hard we may try to photoshop our emotional needs, there\u2019s nothing that can replace the warmth of honest arms awaiting you\u2026<\/p>

What are your future plans? Are you touring this summer (or at least considering to play a few concerts)?<\/strong><\/p>

I\u2019m pretty involved in a new book I\u2019m writing, which I\u2019d like to release sometime this fall along with a few songs. I didn\u2019t feel the need to rush and go back on the road, and since I\u2019m already booked all over Europe in 2022, including a few dates in Italy that I can\u2019t wait to visit for the very first time! I\u2019ve learned to take my time, so the nature of my projects remains honest and keeps on evolving organically through the cheerful vision coming with the connections I\u2019ll have with those I dearly missed over those last 24 months or so. No need to say that I\u2019m incredibly thrilled at the sole idea of having the blessing to hug people again\u2026! It\u2019s been a long way back to you.<\/p>

UNA CHIACCHIERATA CON ALEX HENRY FOSTER<\/strong><\/p>

Come definirebbe il suo percorso artistico?<\/strong><\/p>

Sento di avere l\u2019incredibile privilegio di dare all\u2019intangibile e all\u2019invisibile una \u201ctavolozza di colori sonori\u201d e di ridefinire la sfera emozionale. Alcuni potrebbero dire che sono una sorta di \u201ctessitore del suono\u201d, un \u201cpittore del rumore\u201d o un \u201cdesigner di parole\u201d, concetti che, credo, sono un po\u2019 troppo elaborati rispetto al modo in cui vedo le cose in ambito creativo. Per me la musica, la poesia e l\u2019arte visiva, cos\u00ec come le interazioni umane, rimangono un flusso spontaneo di vita, che mi guida nel profondo. Rinunciando a un pezzo della mia autocoscienza, sono in grado di scoprire un linguaggio articolato in cui posso comunicare ed evolvere. Questo \u00e8 ci\u00f2 che mi piace, sia personalmente che artisticamente: la possibilit\u00e0 di uscire da me stesso al fine di trasformare ogni sensazione personale e costruirci qualcosa sopra.<\/p>

Ecco perch\u00e9 \u201cStanding Under Bright Lights\u201d non si presenta con la stessa natura standardizzata che caratterizza gran parte degli album live. Non \u00e8 un mettere in pubblico qualcosa che rimane radicato in alcuni aspetti emotivi del passato. \u00c8 stato invece una sorta di abbandono totale in un momento libero da ogni velleit\u00e0 autoreferenziale. Non stavo dirigendo orchestre, n\u00e9 stavo canalizzando alcun mantra magico. \u00c8 l\u2019intuizione che ha dato al progetto la sua essenza catartica, cos\u00ec come \u00e8 l\u2019abbandono alle emozioni liberatrici che lo rende cos\u00ec significativo. Una sorta di rinascita per me quella notte, una sorta di intimo ritiro emotivo in cui sono stata liberata da molti dubbi, insicurezze e paure per sostituirli con la pace che arriva solo con il perdono. Sono venuto a patti con vecchie ferite e ho fatto un percorso di \u201credenzione\u201d soprattutto nei confronti dei numerosi rimpianti che portavo da un tempo tanto lungo da perdere persino contezza delle origini.<\/p>

Il concerto \u00e8 stato inizialmente concepito come un omaggio a mio padre scomparso. Ma se da una parte, siamo riusciti a dargli un addio luminoso, dall\u2019altra ne abbiamo fatto una celebrazione della vita aggiungendo valore e motivazioni.<\/p>

In un momento di estrema difficolt\u00e0 per organizzare concerti, a causa delle restrizioni, lei si trova a presentare un album dal vivo<\/strong><\/p>

Questo progetto si propone come una piccola grande opportunit\u00e0 per me comunicare qualcosa in tempo reale. Qualcosa che sto ancora scoprendo. Non considero veramente \u201cStanding Under Brights Lights\u201d un album dal vivo. So che \u00e8 una questione di retorica, ma la decisione per me di pubblicare l\u2019album si \u00e8 basata su un singolo elemento\u2026 L\u2019ispirazione che per qualcuno \u00e8 stata una benedizione, in me pu\u00f2 avere forza di cambiare la vita. Se cos\u00ec, era giusto condividerlo cos\u00ec come l\u2019ho realizzato. Forse, per qualcuno, il contesto della pandemia legittima un album del genere, perch\u00e9 ha perfettamente senso in una prospettiva globale, Per\u00f2 per me si tratta di un\u2019entit\u00e0 vivente molto pi\u00f9 personale e intima, che cresce ben al di l\u00e0 delle circostanze. Parliamo di qualcosa che, una volta condiviso, diventa sempre pi\u00f9 grande dei suoni e delle parole. Non puoi sostituire un momento dal vivo. Sarebbe un\u2019idea ridicola e pomposa da parte mia se fosse cos\u00ec. Ecco perch\u00e9 \u00e8 importante per me dire che \u00e8 lo spirito edificante che deriva dalla natura spontanea di un concerto a portarmi a credere fermamente in questo mio lavoro. Tale spirito non risiede nelle nostre circostanze, ma nella nostra volont\u00e0 vedere senza occhi aperti, sentire senza brividi, inginocchiarsi senza arrendersi, trasformarsi senza dolore, evolvere senza avere pretese. Sta a noi determinare la misura con cui vogliamo sbocciare, crescere o rinascere, possa essere un riflesso della nostra planata che si auto-disegna o uno schianto speranzoso che porta a esultare elevazione, siamo tutti invitati.<\/p>

La tua musica parla anche di salute mentale. Mi riferisco in particolare al progetto Alive (anche di prevenzione suicidi). Perch\u00e9 pensa sia importante?<\/strong><\/p>

Perch\u00e9 ho visto i miei genitori soffrire molto di depressione, ho visto amici perdere le loro battaglie con la disperazione, ma anche e soprattutto perch\u00e9 ho dovuto ammettere la mia misura di desolazione ad un certo punto della mia vita. Sono arrivato persino a pensare di farla finita. \u00c8 una forza devastante per chiunque cerchi di tenere la barra dritta nella pressione di oggi per l\u2019accettazione e il riconoscimento. Quando sei quello che sta fuori e ti trovi a desiderare di essere dentro, tendi a credere a qualunque illusione sia messa in mostra dalla persona in attesa dall\u2019altra parte dello specchio che ti guarda nel tuo stesso identico modo. Lo specchio ha bisogno di essere ripulito, anche rotto, in modo che tutti possano vedere che non importa quanto possiamo provare a photoshoppare i nostri bisogni emotivi, non c\u2019\u00e8 niente che possa sostituire il calore delle braccia oneste che ti aspettano\u2026<\/p>

Quali sono i tuoi piani futuri? Suona n tourn\u00e9e questa estate (o almeno sta pensando di fare qualche concerto)?<\/strong><\/p>

2022 ho gi\u00e0 concerti in tutta Europa, comprese alcune date in Italia che non vedo l\u2019ora di visitare per la prima volta! Ho imparato a prendermi il mio tempo, quindi la natura dei miei progetti rimane lineare e continua ad evolversi organicamente attraverso la visione che arriva con le connessioni che avr\u00f2 con tutto quello che mi \u00e8 mancato negli ultimi 24 mesi circa. Non c\u2019\u00e8 bisogno di dire che sono incredibilmente entusiasta della possibilit\u00e0 di avere la benedizione di riabbracciare le persone!
