Le 28 octobre j\u2019\u00e9tais \u00e0 La Laiterie \u00e0 Strasbourg pour \u00e9couter\u00a0The Pineapple Thief<\/a>. Et en premi\u00e8re partie, se produisait le qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois Alex Henry Foster, l\u2019ex leader du groupe Your Favorite Enemies.<\/p>

Je m\u2019attendais \u00e0 un gars seul devant un micro avec sa guitare \u00e9lectro acoustique. A la place, ce furent deux batteries, trois guitares \u00e9lectriques, des claviers, une saxophoniste choriste et un frontman fou \u00e0 lunettes embu\u00e9es qui envahirent la sc\u00e8ne.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s une longue ouverture post-rock cin\u00e9matique, une bombe explosa le d\u00f4me de silence, une temp\u00eate de col\u00e8re froide, d\u2019infra basses, de guitares jou\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019archet et une voix mi slam mi chant\u00e9e d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9e. Un tsunami \u00e9motionnel et sonore de plus de quinze minutes intitul\u00e9 \u2018The Hunter\u2019. J\u2019\u00e9tais \u00e0 terre, conquis.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ce n\u2019est pas tous les jours qu\u2019une premi\u00e8re partie me fait cet effet l\u00e0. Surtout lorsque je ne connais pas l\u2019artiste. Alors, \u00e9videmment, je suis reparti avec le vinyle d\u00e9dicac\u00e9 par Alex et le teeshirt pour faire bonne mesure.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La pochette o\u00f9 figure un portrait de l\u2019artiste flout\u00e9, cache deux \u00e9tuis blancs qui ensemble reconstituent la photographie en noir et blanc d\u2019un colibri, oiseau symbole de gu\u00e9rison de l\u2019\u00e2me.<\/p>

Et il devra \u0153uvrer cet oiseau-mouche pour soulager l\u2019infinie douleur qui r\u00e8gne sur cet album.<\/p>

windows in the sky est un premier album d\u2019une heure et huit morceaux qui n\u2019aurait jamais d\u00fb exister. Un voyage th\u00e9rapie \u00e0 Tanger aux confins du chagrin o\u00f9 Alex parle du deuil, celui de son p\u00e8re d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 en 2016.<\/p>

Post-rock, cin\u00e9matique, trip-hop, parl\u00e9, chant\u00e9, l\u2019album ne poss\u00e8de pas la violence de leur prestation live. Il est nettement plus en retenue et moins contrast\u00e9.<\/p>

Cela n\u2019enl\u00e8ve rien \u00e0 sa beaut\u00e9 tortur\u00e9e, devenue juste plus int\u00e9rieure. Le voyage se fait \u00e9galement avec les mots traduits en fran\u00e7ais que vous pourrez d\u00e9couvrir sur son site. Une mani\u00e8re de mieux comprendre l\u2019univers d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9 de windows in the sky.<\/p>

Alex m\u2019a expliqu\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin du concert, que chacune de ses prestations live \u00e9tait diff\u00e9rente avec toujours une grande part d\u2019improvisation.<\/p>

Si vous \u00e9coutez Standing Under Bright Lights, son live \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al sur Bandcamp, vous pourrez appr\u00e9cier la diff\u00e9rence avec l\u2019album studio.<\/p>

Fort, tortur\u00e9, d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9 sont des adjectifs qui collent \u00e0 la peau de cet album atypique. Attention cependant, si vous \u00eates d\u00e9pressif chronique, \u00e9vitez son \u00e9coute \u00e0 haute dose, \u00e7a ne va sans doute pas vous aider beaucoup.<\/p>

Une voix d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9e d\u00e9clame des \u201cThe Beginning Is The End\u201d sur des cordes tortur\u00e9es, des battements de coeur, des basses et des claviers cin\u00e9matiques hallucinog\u00e8nes.<\/p>

La musique se cherche, se r\u00e9p\u00e8te, annon\u00e7ant la temp\u00eate qui n\u2019explose jamais vraiment. Des constructions sonores planantes et tendues rythm\u00e9es par les mots de Alex Henry.<\/p>

L\u2019album, en plus d\u2019\u00eatre sublime, remue beaucoup d\u2019\u00e9motions enfouies en nous. Mais peut-\u00eatre faut-il \u00eatre un rescap\u00e9 de l\u2019existence pour appr\u00e9hender pleinement la beaut\u00e9 de windows in the sky.<\/p>
