With its Blade Runner like intro, the Kimiyo album creates a soundscape that is cinematographic in scope.
Alex Henry Foster teams up with Momoka to create a lush landscape of emotional comfort.
A Silent Dream is simply irresistible and is one of those songs that could be kept on repeat.
Alex is always drawn back to Japan, and this project lays homage to its people, culture and fundamental beliefs. As we travel with the pair, we let our minds see beauty, fear, desire, hopelessness and redemption. The conflicted emotions are translated by the universal language of the instruments that allow us to embark on this journey.
While the project stems for a gut-wrenching tragedy of a young Japanese fan taking his own life, the process allowed Alex to work through the hard memories, and extract beauty and grace, with the help of Momoka as the soothing voice bringing light to a dark room.
With this release, Alex has found his voice, having nearly lost it during his recent cardiac surgery. When faced with a life altering blow, Alex has always found a way to turn pain into art, and beauty. The road to recovery has been long, and likely not without moments of doubt, but there is an undercurrent of hope that keeps both Alex, his band and his fans afloat.
I was in no other position than to either feel sorry for myself or have a prolonged look with myself to figure out who I was beyond the distressing sensation of losing my identity. The introspective clarity brought me right back to Japan, in what had been for me a transformative experience almost 15 years ago, highlighted by the long-forgotten fragments of film, photographs, and people’s testimonies I had the privilege of witnessing.
