It was July 5, 2019, at Club Soda. The end of a great project. The adventure of a lifetime? Almost. Alex Henry Foster, singer-creator at the heart of the band Your Favorite Enemies, was reaching the end of his tunnel, basked in the benevolent halo of the stage. Halfway between apocalypse and apotheosis, he offered the audience of the Jazz Festival his entire solo album Windows in the Sky, a vast transposition of the journey of a lifetime filled with shadows and ghosts before reaching the light that music gives. The epic venture – Think Pink Floyd visiting Radiohead – was excessive, as Foster expressed a hurt that was hurting even more, lived a freedom that was even more freeing, found a benefaction that was even more tangible. There are some works, whereas praised in their studio iterations (worldwide success, here), that prove even richer in their exacerbation. A DVD of the show, along with a documentary, complete the portrait now turned fresco. What will come next? Listen to The Son of Hannah.
