I forgot to mention something as funny as touching that happened also right after I first sang. While Ben was placing my vocals in the song’s context, he asked me: “What are you doing? Are you writing to the album producer?” YES! I was so happy that it felt right, that I needed to send him a message right away. “You couldn’t even wait to hear your vocals! It’s amazing, you are so intense! Beautiful!!!” Ben added. As simple as it might look, some things are a bit more complex when placed in their larger context, and for me, after a year or so of delay, pushback, rescheduling, and additional setbacks, there’s news that is more exhilarating to share than others. And when there is one of your most admired record producers enthusiastically engaged in working on your post-surgery record with you, trust me, it was an email I was impatient to send him, to share my “FINALLY!!! YES!!!”, and to honor his trust in me. He dedicated a significant period of his upcoming year to me and my art, so it had to be right away… If I could have been able to write to him while actually singing, I would have done it.
