Part of the project “A Whispering Moment” I had the utmost joy to design as a celebration of the singular evolution of the song “Shadows Of Our Evening Tides”, Ben and I decided to reopen the original recording sessions that took place in Tangier, in our Studio HQ near Montreal, and at my home in the Virginia Highlands in order to see if there was something we might have missed or overlooked during our revisitation process.
By doing so, it brought all sorts of memories back to me, as vivid as if they were happening in real time. I could almost feel the sensations I was going through during those recording sessions… There was so much going on in my heart and soul during those instants of letting go. Listening to the different takes, I could feel the warmth of the sun in Tangier carried out through the soft winds caressing my face while I was sitting on the rooftop terrace where I started sketching the lyrics. I could hear the Virginian summer rain falling outside of my house as I was recording my vocal parts. I could smell the mountain’s perfumes and could relive the moment I thought of adding a part of Ginsberg’s poem while having a coffee in West Virginia on a sunny Sunday morning. I could recall the good vibrations I had during the mixing phase of the song taking place in our studio at the HQ studio. All sorts of souvenirs and emotions I hadn’t remembered in a very, very long time… It reminded me that genuine moments always find a way to become an intrinsic part of who we are, even without us noticing. And in retrospect, it represents the organic essence of what “Shadows Of Our Evening Tides” is really about: a sort of natural metamorphosing motion.
Through that re-exploration, we decided to highlight the specific elements that initially moved us while emphasizing the enlightening aspects that now echo through the song so luminously, way beyond ourselves and a multitude of people now, giving life to a version singular enough to ultimately foresee its introduction to radio after years of reluctance to do so. It is a decision that not only honors the significant period of my existence encapsulated by my album “Windows in the Sky”, but that now beautifully overlaps with the new creative whirl I am obsessed with.

Change is absolute.”
