A Vessel Astray

A vessel astray
Eroded by the sea
And devoured by the sadness
Of a mother’s mourning eyes
From a child yet to be born
A symbol of grief
That once was a light
That has grown on
To become an unsettling embrace
As the horizon dissipates
with languishing strands
Wandering before lying down
In tears
In a vision of rapture
Of blood washed out with salt
Mxed up with water
And its baptizing lore

We ask more questions
Than we kneel down to pray

If faith brought us that far
Love and its doubts
Are lingering sheets
Sparkling their dying dusk
Over our tired feet
Our own worn-out cries

We ask more questions
We ask more questions

In a firmament of mosaic
A rendering ocean
Heaven and its disbeliefs
Existence and its impermanence

Even truth sleeps alone
Through its most daring fears
Of drowning way too deep
To trust its own despairs

To dwell just a little too close
To its own beclouded mists…

As we ask more questions
Than we kneel down to pray…

Than we kneel down to pray…
To pray
To pray
To pray
