Friday, november 13

Welcome Cocktail

We’ll begin our special weekend with a welcome cocktail at La Maison de Tanger. It’s a chance to meet everyone who will be part of the journey, reconnect with familiar faces, and settle into the city together. This is where the communion starts for us. La Maison will also serve as our base for the weekend.

First Tangier Concert

From there, we’ll head downtown together for Alex Henry Foster’s first official concert in Tangier, at La Dabatek, where we’ll get to share the first live music of the weekend in the heart of the city.

Brunch

We’ll start the second day with brunch at La Maison de Tanger, our meeting point throughout the weekend. It’ll be a chance to gather around the table, share our first impressions of the concert, and get to know each other a little better before the day ahead. Take your time, enjoy the food and conversation, and let the day begin from there.

Cinéma Rif

Kimiyo Movie Premiere and Q&A

Taking place at the iconic Cinéma Rif (also known as Cinémathèque de Tanger), the first cultural movie theater in all of Northern Africa. For the first time ever, we will show the entire movie Kimiyo. 

The viewing will be preceded by a Q&A with Alex, with a focus on how travels and locations can shape who we become.

El Minzah Hotel

Dinner Cocktail & Concert

After the viewing, we will all head to El Minzah, one of Tangier’s iconic hotel that preserves the history of the city. Visited by many other artists and public figures, it feels like stepping back in time.

We’ll gather for a dinner cocktail before Alex Henry Foster’s second concert in Tangier,another chance to experience the music together, this time in a very different setting, as the concert will take place in the inner courtyard of the hotel.

Brunch

We’ll return to La Maison de Tanger for brunch on Sunday, another unhurried moment of communion. It’s a chance to slow down, reconnect, and ease into the next part of the weekend together.

Dar Nour Rooftop

Music Video Filming & Dinner

In the Kasbah, we’ll visit Dar Nour, where Alex spent his first few months in Tangier ten years ago. One of the city’s first guesthouses, it holds a special place in his story. Our friends there will welcome us for an apéro and a photo exhibition, followed by the shooting of a music video on the rooftop terrace, weather permitting. After sunset, we’ll share a traditional Moroccan dinner on the rooftop or in their indoor restaurant.

After Party

We’ll finish the night at La Muralla, a lively spot in the Kasbah, for an after-party with Jeff as a DJ. Come dance, stay a little longer, and enjoy one last night together in Tangier.

Guests are also free to pay for every event individually, but payment will be expected upfront. Some places do accept credit card, but make sure to have Moroccan dirhams on you at times.

Most of the weekend’s venues are within roughly a 15-minute walk of one another, though Tangier’s hills can make even a short walk feel longer. La Dabatek is farther away, but transportation to and from the concert is included with the package.

Dar Nour cannot be reached directly by car, and its rooftop, where the November 15 activities will take place, requires climbing three levels of stairs. La Muralla can be reached by car and has an elevator to its rooftop. If you have mobility concerns, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the venues with you.

Much of life in Tangier happens outdoors, and several of our weekend activities do too. If rain or severe weather affects an event, we may need to adjust the plans. We’ll share any updates in the weekend WhatsApp group. To join, message Stephanie at +1 540 620 9556.

Depending on where you’re staying, your hotel may be able to arrange an airport or train station transfer. This usually costs extra, but your driver will be waiting for you when you arrive, making the start of your trip easier.

Taxis are also available outside the airport and train station. If you can, we recommend arranging your ride in advance so you can head straight to your accommodation.

Tangier is a lovely city to explore on foot, but be prepared for hills—even a short walk can involve a steep climb or descent. If you’d rather take a taxi, you’ll see two main types around the city:

  • Beige grand taxis generally take you directly to your destination and cost more.

  • Teal petit taxis are used for shorter trips within the city. Tell the driver where you’re going before getting in; they may already have passengers or pick up others along the way.

At the airport, look for the grand taxi stand. Around the train station, ask which taxi can take you to your destination. Keep in mind that you’ll need to walk the final stretch to places inside the medina and Kasbah, where the narrow streets are largely pedestrian.

La Maison de Tanger (9 rue Al Mabarra, Tangier) will be our meeting point throughout the weekend. We suggest keeping its address and phone number close by (or pick up one of its business cards) so you can show it to a taxi driver whenever you need to find your way back.

Although more places in Tangier now accept credit cards, it’s a good idea to carry some Moroccan dirhams. Taxis and smaller local markets, for example, often require cash.

You’ll find currency exchange services at the airport and in the city, including several near La Maison de Tanger. If you’re bringing a less commonly exchanged currency, consider checking whether it can be changed in Tangier before you travel. It is easy to exchange Euros, American & Canadian dollars in the city, but less common currencies, like the Japanese Yen, can only be exchanged at the airport. Euros are also accepted in some tourist shops, but dirhams will be more useful for everyday purchases.

To stay connected during your visit, you can activate roaming with your usual mobile provider or get a Moroccan SIM card. Before travelling, check that your phone is unlocked and can use a local SIM or eSIM.

Orange, Maroc Telecom, and Inwi all offer local mobile service. You can ask about SIM cards at the airport, where staff may be able to help you set one up, or visit a phone shop once you’re in the city. Bring your passport for registration and have the address of your accommodation handy. Plans and prices vary, so choose one that suits how much data you expect to use.

For drinking during your stay in Tangier, we recommend using sealed bottled water rather than tap water.

Tea and coffee made with freshly boiled water are generally fine. If you prefer to be cautious, use bottled water when brushing your teeth as well.

Many restaurants in Tangier offer vegetarian options, but substitutions are not always possible. Gluten-free alternatives may be limited, so please ask about specific dishes rather than assuming they can be adapted. La Maison de Tanger does offer gluten-free bread.

If you have a dietary restriction, please let us know before the weekend so we can check the options available at each planned meal.

The residents of Tangier, like everywhere else in Morocco, are predominantly of the Muslim faith. However, there is a particularly open and progressive mindset in the city. Even though it is advisable to be more cautious during periods such as Ramadan, you can stroll around the city as you are. You do not need to cover your shoulders or face if you do not wish to.

From our own experience, while our initial instinct was to cover our shoulders with a shawl, a woman from Tangier expressly asked us not to wear it if we did not want to, as the locals want everyone to feel free to dress as they wish.

Cats and dogs are very common in the streets of Tangier. They are not dangerous but rather an inspiration for wonderful photos. However, we advise always to remain cautious. Dogs with a yellow tag on the ear are vaccinated and sterilized, and generally calmer. Cats are also abundant, with some being more wild than others. You can, however, feed them by buying food at the market, just like many Tangier residents do every day.

A True Moroccan Experience

In November 2026, Alex Henry Foster will return to Morocco for a very special series of events unfolding across the country. From the desert to the coast, this unique journey will bring music, communion, and discovery to a handful of remarkable places before culminating in an intimate weekend in Tangier.

The adventure begins in the desert at the Taragalte Festival, before continuing with concerts in Aït Benhaddou, Rabat and Casablanca, and ultimately leading to Tangier, the city that has profoundly shaped Alex’s life and creative journey.

DAYS SPENT DISCOVERING

More than a destination event, this weekend is imagined as an intimate experience where music, conversations, discoveries, and shared moments unfold in a place Alex has long called home. Alongside the performances, the weekend will also include a live Open Conversation, the filming of a new music video, and other surprises designed to make these few days together as meaningful as they are memorable.

By day, Tangier reveals itself through its light, its textures, its sea air, and its endless in-between spaces. From the medina’s winding streets to the quiet rooftops overlooking the coast, the city offers a sense of mystery and movement unlike anywhere else.

NIGHTS SPENT IN COMMUNION

As the sun goes down, the energy deepens. Over the course of the weekend, Alex will perform two distinct shows, each offering its own atmosphere, its own emotions, and its own way of entering the music. This is not simply about attending concerts — it is about stepping into a world, into a rhythm, into a few suspended days shaped by beauty, presence, and communion.
