My Prayers Go to Morocco

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the numerous messages you sent our way, both to La Maison de Tanger as well as through the different platforms linked with my creative and musical activities, following the terrible earthquake that struck the Southern areas of Morocco.

With Tangier located in the North, we have, so to speak, not felt the throes of this terrible natural catastrophe, although my heart and my thoughts are with my brothers and sisters who are faced with the terrible findings of the improbable, all the while cultivating the vibrant hope of seeing once more loved ones who are currently missing.

The resiliency of love, just like the courage and the determination of the affected communities, not only blows across the entire country but echoes way beyond its frontiers, since friends from all around the world are mobilizing themselves at this very moment to offer the comfort that such a tragedy can inspire, while also getting organized in order to be able to actively contribute to the crying needs that such a catastrophe generates, on the one hand on a human level, as well as in terms of the most basic needs.

I discovered Morocco in 2016, as a stranger with a bruised soul. You welcomed me with benevolence and your kindness towards me has healed numerous of those wounds… You made me a friend… and I have the joy of being established in your country since 2020, a place that, through your heartwarming welcome, is a place that I have the happiness to call home. It’s on this singular basis that my humble prayers accompany you during those times of suffering, anguish, and dismay.

If you are in a position that enables you to do so, I invite you to give to the Moroccan Red Cross, to the extent that your situation allows you: https://www.ifrc.org/article/morocco-earthquake-ifrc-and-moroccan-red-crescent-response-date

Sincere friendship, hope, and courage.
