Sunday Working Sunday
Sunday… if it should be the day of the Lord and therefore our weekly sabbatical, this day doesn’t have that same dimensional reference for us, and with Mikko being home, it’s even more of a challenge for us to do everything we have to do, which is quite intense from a week to another. Who said that artists aren’t really into working? To whoever did say that, we have openings for volunteer work every Sunday.
Ben and Stephanie were already on site fixing all the technicals when Jeff and I arrived a little before 9 am for him to film his weekly video for The Club. The vibe was pretty joyful. It’s always great to collaborate with Ben and Stephanie, you know they will go above and beyond to ensure that whatever we are releasing is high quality while improving from one week to another. It’s more work for the very same people, but there’s nothing worse than putting in the hard work only to find that others didn’t afterward, which has been our biggest challenge working with friends over the years. I love them all, but God do they like to take it easy on every occasion they have.
Friend filming and editing: “ What?!? You don’t like when the camera keeps on shaking, when we see the microphone poll or when the edit is made with an automatic editing program?”
All the others: “No we don’t like that. Didn’t we buy a huge body camera stabilization system like you asked? And a professional editing program as we required?”
Friend: “Yes, but I never used them.”
All the others: “Don’t you think it’s part of the problem we had every week for the last 20 years, not doing things properly while using the proper gear to do it, that you asked us to buy in the first place?!?”
Friend (thinking before answering): “There might be some of that, yes, or maybe I need different type of gear to do it.”
All the others: “What about enjoying the day of the Lord as a day off from now on?!?”
Friend: “Cool, we’ll resume the filming when you have the proper gear then, good idea guys.”
All the others (thinking about doing it themselves from that point on): “Perfect, we’ll let know when we’ll receive the new set of gear. Enjoy the day buddy.”
That being said, there’s no better way than to do it ourselves. Last week’s edition was awesome. The wonderful comments you sent us were not only encouraging, they empowered us to keep on pressing on in that same direction. That’s why, now that the technicals went from “a local student TV broadcasting a shaking version of an immobile plant at 2 am on a Tuesday” to a “2024 top quality 4K professional type of intimate rendezvous”, we can finally enjoy all the incredible content Jeff is faithfully preparing week after week after week for The Club, which I’m strongly recommending you to join if you haven’t already, as all the exclusive content shared for the members is truly awesome. And I’m honestly truly impressed with everything Jeff is doing to bring you as close as possible to our creative universe and communal dynamics. Sorry if it sounds like a promotional advertisement, but it’s amazing nonetheless… It’s fantastic and it’s in 4K!!!
