Right after lunch, we transitioned to a song called “Architect Of Time.” For this one, Mikko wanted to explore the idea of integrating tape loops into the whole process. If I wasn’t too familiar with such a “thing,” I became equally impressed by the sound effects and in total awe before the complexity of something that looked so easy at first sight. It’s crazy complex to operate; the machine is super sensitive, and the process requires a strategy, as it creates layers and layers of instruments, noises, and sonic experiments all in real time. We have a short amount of time to execute the plan before the tape starts degrading. If we felt unbalanced and rushed out of our comfort zone before, creating tape loops is an Olympic sport… GO GO GO!!!
